Congratulations! Hate we can't make it but we hope you have a happy marriage and your wedding day is absolutely perfect.
Can't wait ! So excited for the couple in the "Mayor's House" who have embraced Louisville wholeheartedly!
Congratulations on your wedsite! We are honored to be a part of your special day. Thank you for choosing wedsite.com to share your wedding plans and experiences with your friends and family.
We have been getting many inquiries to see if our special day is baby friendly, and although babies are a big part of our lives (a solid paycheck mostly), we want all of our guests, including those who are parents to 'let loose', drink, be merry and dance the night away (hard with baby in your arms).
Therefore, if you are interested in bringing the fam to Louisville, we recommend for services on the wedding day: http://www.familytreecareservices.com
What wowed us about this city is not only the amazing food, Southern Charm, and amazing whiskey & bourbon around us, but it's also the community and support for local art/music/culture with farmers markets/festivals/flea off market and dedication the city has for its neighbors not only in Kentucky, but globally...
Take a walk across the river on the Big Four Bridge or drive out to the Parklands of Flloyds Fork for some cool trails.
As always, you can take a trip to your favorite bourbon distilleries (over 10 within easy driving distance, YOU ARE IN KENTUCKY)
The closest ones in city are Angel's Envy and Evan Williams Experience. Whiskey Row downtown is expected to open next Spring, so we would love to have you back to visit!
Moreover, THE KY DERBY IS THE WEEK BEFORE THE WEDDING! If your schedule allows, join us in kicking off the celebration with Thurby, Oaks, and Derby (it's like Mardi Gras in KY) the week end prior! If not this year, then next!

This friendship has been strong for decades since their pre-med undergraduate studies at Pitt. They first met in class both neuroscience majors. Natalia, despite being 100% polish, is considered a sister to Charise. They've been each others support through college, medical school applications, actual medical school (Natalia @ the Ohio State & Charise @ Tulane) and also in their residencies. There has been no less than a week or two gone by where they haven't spoken on the phone. Distance cannot separate this bond of friendship! Natalia currently lives in Baltimore, MD where she is completing her general surgery residency.
Her other half! Literally, another Filipina halfsie with the same name ending, otherwise collectively known as "the ese's". This strong and enduring friendship has maintained for over a decade since both working in the "Ferg lab" (orthopedic research at Pitt) together where most could not tell them apart. Therese has been there for almost all of Charise's important life events, including being there for the first week of meeting Mike. These two have maintained such a strong friendship throughout Therese's undergrad studies at CMU to her medical training in Gainesville and her residency at UAB. Charise enjoys hearing Therese's humorous tales from the Emergency Room and also listening to her fun travel adventures and events in Birmingham, AL (like the 80s party she threw in July!)
Charise first met Samantha around Christmas time after almost 2 years of dating Mike. Only hearing stories from Mike, Charise knew she would be someone special; after their meeting Charise was even more excited to be a part of an amazing family and be able to have a lifetime bond with such an amazing person and to call her sister. Samantha not only is a great friend and wonderful cook, she has insurmountable creativity and artistic talent that surely both Charise and Mike will need her expertise in many times ahead.
Sharhonda has been her rock and study buddy in residency as Charise's classmate and confidant. Not only is she sweet and selfless, she has strength in all of her "hats" as a physician, friend, mother and woman that Charise tries to emulate. Sharhonda aka Biley (her last name) has been there to listen, encourage, teach, instruct, laugh, and cry with. Intern year, Charise will always remember being grateful for Biley's surgical skills in a tough case. Like true members of a family, they have stuck together through hard times and had a special bond even before residency started where they met in Biley's home town during their family medicine rotation in medical school. Through her hard work at LSU School of Medicine and finishing her residency training at Ochsner, Sharhonda will begin her obgyn practice in Alexandria, LA, and surely Charise will be consulting and sharing stories with her sister bonded by residency.
4 years of residency was just enough time to create a lifetime of memories and friendship together! Continuing the legacy at Ochsner Baptist, Dr. Sandow is picking up her practice and both she and Charise continue to quiz each other/help each other/ share stories while starting fresh in their new careers. Mimi was always a very supportive friend to Charise and backed up the Shively/Fashho bond since the beginning!
starting the weekend off right
come join us for some post rehersal cake and drinks!
In keeping with the Mardi Gras theme, Mike proposed to Charise two years after their initial first date. She knew it was likely to be coming, but had not divulged a ring preference at all. With her three best friends: Ross, Natalia, and Therese in town, the Nyx parade had passed, Charise was sure that this would be the night of the proposal. After learning Solange Knowles threw her engagement ring overboard a float during the parades, it was probably for the best that the engagement ring missed out on the sidewalk & neutral ground festivities. On lundi gras day, after turning down the Orpheus ball, Mike suggested a fancy dinner since it had "been a while since just the two of us had one". Meanwhile, Natalia just recently decided to not delay her departure from New Orleans, as to allow Mike a proper planned evening. The couple showed up for dinner at John Besh's August on that Monday February 8th evening and Charise thought nothing of Mike's refusal to give up his jacket at the door because he was truly on call and had to "carry his pager" at the table. After their magnificent meal, upon ordering dessert, two bubbly flutes of champagne were brought and Charise exclaimed, "Woo! Free Mardi Gras champagne!" as the Orpheus parade rolled down Tchoupitoulas street, visible in the window. Mike responded, "Well this is a special occasion
It was the Mystic Krewe of Nyx parade on February 26, 2014 where they shared their first date. Mike was finishing his first year of pulmonary/critical care fellowship training after living in Birmingham, AL for residency and medical school in his hometown of Shreveport, LA and Charise had nearly six years of New Orleans living under her belt in her second year of residency training. They both knew a special connection was made and the two lovebirds are now ready for a lifetime of love & growth together.
Mike, aka dad for his wonderful ability to take care of (not only Charise) but all of her friends and family, is the perfect compliment to what was always meant to be for Charise. From bringing food to her on her busy call days and helping to figure out tough medical cases, to having handy snacks available at parades, and even providing morning pick ups to her closest friends, Mike has proven time and time again that he is not only super smart, but also amazingly caring and a great man, future husband and also future real dad.
Charise, the name purposefully chosen by her parents to mean "grace, kindness, and life" in Greek, is delighted to marry the man of her dreams. You all know her as the silly, fun-loving dark haired & hardworking obstetrician-gynecologist who is truly devoted to her family and would do anything for her good friends. She is most excited to get "funky" on the dance floor and have the best night ever to celebrate her true love matrimony!
